You and Your PotentialA client recently said that maybe they’d be inspired to run for time in an upcoming race. Until now, racing for time hasn’t been a motivator for this person. My honest response was: fine if you do, fine if you don’t. It may seem unexpected coming from a professional coach, but I’m not concerned with everyone trying to maximize their potential. Reaching potential is just one of many valid goals for a runner. For the past several years my general goal has been to get (or stay) fit enough that an 8 mile run doesn’t make me tired. Certainly my potential is greater than this, but for some reason, right now an “8 mile run feeling like nothing” is my own definition of fitness. Nothing more. As runners, we can define our personal goals and decide just how hard we’re willing to work. I’m here to help you achieve whatever it is that matters to you. Sincerely, Nicole
