On The WayFor the past month I’ve been meeting in-person with a small running group. My guess is that most people who come to the workouts don’t consider themselves regular or consistent runners. We’re 4 weeks in, and I can see the progress being made, and the confidence gained. Bottom line — people are running faster than they did a few short weeks ago. It’s a lot of fun. (Join us!) But what are we working toward, exactly? What is the goal? Well, we don’t have one. Goals generally motivate us to act, and believe me, I love goals. But the opposite idea - that without a goal we have no motivation - is actually damaging. Very often, it is action that leads to motivation. We don’t need to have a destination in sight to keep going. In the words of Tank Sinatra - You don’t have to get “there.” It feels great to just be “on your way.” Sincerely, Nicole
